The law firm of Baldassare & Mara, LLC of Newark, N.J., provides high-quality legal advice and representation on criminal and civil matters to individuals and corporations in the federal and state courts of New Jersey and other jurisdictions. Core practice areas include criminal defense and civil litigation as well as subpoena response and documentation, and internal investigations. The founders, Michael Baldassare, Esq. and Jennifer Mara, Esq., worked together at one of New Jersey's largest law firms, Gibbons P.C., prior to creating their own litigation boutique. Both lawyers have established respected reputations among their clients and peers for the individual experience and knowledge they have acquired as well as their commitment to client service.
Status and Innovative Business Model
The firm recently re-located from Chatham, N.J., to 570 Broad Street in Newark where prestigious headquarters are now being completed. Working for clients from referring lawyers as well as direct business, the company utilizes cloud computing and outsources clerical services to provide comparable high-quality services as a large firm but at a lower cost. With technology as a major component of its business model, the firm created a proprietary program, CLIX-Net, enabling clients to immediately access key documents and information related to their legal matters through a secure portal on the firm's web site.
Criminal Defense: The principals have experience defending high-profile clients under investigation for, or formally accused of, alleged criminal violations of federal and state law. Clients have included a large number of individuals involved in white-collar crime, a range of fraud matters, bribery, and extortion. The attorneys have also represented clients in administrative, regulatory and licensing proceedings from criminal investigations and prosecutions and have defended clients in allegations of attempted murder, weapons crimes, drug possession and distribution, as well as other matters.
Civil Litigation: The prinicipals have vast and unique experience handling complex commercial litigation matters in the federal and state courts. Matters have included civil RICO cases, complicated business and contractual disputes, civil antitrust matters, and post-war reparation litigation.
Subpoena Response and Documentation: The principals have significant experience handling large-scale document reviews and leverage technology as well as an extensive pool of qualified contract attorneys in the process. Through Baldassare & Mara's CLIX-Net, clients are offered immediate, secure access to their "hot docs."
Internal Investigations: Baldassare and Mara have conducted internal investigations to create formal reports, recommend internal changes or evaluate self-disclosure. By working closely with in-house counsel and, where appropriate, a core group of executives, the firm can rapidly develop and deploy a strategy to gather and analyze the information.
