Community, Congregants and Spiritual Leaders Enjoy Nature Hike on South Mountain Reservation
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J., June 6, 2014 – Community members and congregants joined Rabbi Daniel Cohen (back row, far right) and Rabbi Ellie Miller (center right) from Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel for a vigorous nature hike on South Mountain Reservation led by “The Adventure Rabbi” Jamie Korngold (center left, in red). The afternoon was part of Korngold’s scholar-in-residence weekend at the Reform synagogue with the theme “Let the Wilderness Awaken Your Judaism.” Known for her expertise in connecting Judaism with nature, Korngold punctuated the hike with short lessons to show participants how nature can be a spiritual springboard to enhancing one’s Jewish experience. The outing ended with a short worship service in the woods.
