Energy Upgrade Has Fiscal, Environmental Benefits
HACKENSACK, N.J., March 19, 2014 – Life is cleaner, greener and more energy efficient for tenants of Queen Anne apartments in Hackensack, N.J. Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, the property’s owner and manager, has announced the completion of an oil-to-natural gas conversion project at the residential community.
Natural gas is one of the cleanest, safest and most useful of all energy resources, offering significant economic and environmental benefits, according to David Cali, Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ vice president of property management. “Converting from oil heat to natural gas represented an opportunity to make Queen Anne apartments more energy efficient. Natural gas burns cleaner than oil, emits no unpleasant soot and is completely odorless, creating a cleaner living environment for our tenants.”
Since 2002, the cost of oil heat has averaged 30 to 50 percent more than gas each year, according to the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA). Natural gas prices are at historic lows, and the EIA expects the price difference between fuel oil and natural gas to remain in favor of natural gas for the foreseeable future. “If gas prices remain stable, we expect to save 50 percent on energy bills at Queen Anne over the next 12 months. Additionally, the new gas-fired system has fewer moving parts and runs cleaner than oil, lowering maintenance and operating expenses,” said Cali.
Alfred Sanzari Enterprises is planning a similar oil-to-natural gas conversion at its Riverside Terrace apartment community in Bogota, N.J. “As a company, we are proactive when it comes to identifying ways to reduce energy consumption, cut costs and improve our tenants’ living environment,” said Cali. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the results of this conversion.”
Queen Anne apartments, located at 230 Polifly Road, offers a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 700 to 950 square feet.
