Bergen County, N.J., Skilled Nursing Facility Named a Best Nursing Home 2021-’22
ALLENDALE, N.J., Jan. 13, 2022 — Expanding its services to meet area healthcare needs, Allendale Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center has introduced a new Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, naming Jason Shatkin, MD, ABSM, ABIM, as its director. The services enhancement and recent recognition as a Best Nursing Home 2021-22 in the short-stay rehab category by U.S. News & World Report reflect the skilled nursing and assisted living facility’s sustained commitment to quality care.
Located at 85 Harreton Road in Allendale, Allendale Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center – formerly known as The Allendale Community for Senior Living – is undergoing a multi-million-dollar repositioning and rebranding. The upgrade is touching every part of the two-story building, creating a modern, home-like environment for residents and further enhancing the facility’s capabilities to provide top-level therapy and programming options.
Allendale’s Pulmonary Rehab Program aims to reduce pulmonary symptoms, decrease disability, increase participation in physical and social activities, and promote independence and quality of life. It caters to the individual who has subacute rehab and medical needs related to an acute exacerbation or new onset of pulmonary disease. Allendale respiratory patients benefit from a full-time respiratory therapist on staff and 24/7 access to lab and radiology services, with an extensive range of therapy services available seven days per week.
“Pulmonary disease in older adults takes a significant toll on quality of life when it is not addressed properly,” said Dr. Shatkin. “I look forward to working closely with the dedicated team at Allendale in caring for patients and providing for the best possible outcomes.”
Dr. Shatkin is board certified in pulmonary disorders, critical care and sleep medicine. He is the co-founder and co-managing partner of The Physician Specialists of Northern New Jersey, a multi-specialty group serving all facets of internal medicine.
“Allendale Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center’s Pulmonary Rehab Program directly addresses healthcare demand in Bergen County,” said Ugochi Opara, regional director of market development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “Dr. Shatkin is well known in the area for his medical expertise; the facility and its residents are fortunate to have him direct this new initiative.”
U.S. News & World Report’s short-term rehab rating evaluates a nursing home’s quality of post-acute care for patients recovering from a hospital stay such as after stroke, heart attack, infection or accidental injury. It evaluated over 15,000 nursing homes for this year’s rankings.
In addition to short-term rehab, the 299-bed Allendale Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center offers post-hospital care and long-term residential care; the campus features Carlton Court, a memory care neighborhood, and The Atrium, an assisted living community.
Based in Brick, N.J., Marquis Health Consulting Services is a highly skilled and vision-driven nursing home consulting company currently supporting Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities totaling nearly 6,000 skilled nursing and assisted living beds.
