Appointments at Westgate Hills and Orchard Hill Enhance Physiatry Services

BALTIMORE and TOWSON, Md. (Sept. 28, 2023) — Two Baltimore County skilled nursing facilities – both clients of Marquis Health Consulting Services – have partnered with Comprehensive Rehab Consultants (CRC), welcoming Mackenzie Murray as their new physiatry clinician. The appointments enhance in-place Physiatry programming at Westgate Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Baltimore and Orchard Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Towson.
Physiatry services, also known as physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) services, blend pain treatments and physical therapy with the goal to help patients avoid surgery. This “whole body” approach at Westgate Hills and Orchard Hill focuses on designing, coordinating and overseeing customized rehabilitation therapies for patients while managing their medical conditions, including co-morbidities.
CRC’s Murray brings significant experience in geriatrics and internal medicine within skilled nursing and long-term care settings to her new role at Westgate Hills and Orchard Hill. She is a Certified Physician Assistant.
“By collaborating with Comprehensive Rehab Consultants, Westgate Hills and Orchard Hill are continuing to leverage our team’s established connections with top healthcare providers and health systems to enhance in-place initiatives, such as Physiatry, and establish new market-specific programs, too,” said Marquis’ Nikki Gachot, regional director of market development. “Mackenzie is working closely with the teams at both of our client centers to maximize their rehab services to help patients transition home as safely and independently as possible.”
Physiatry services are known to significantly decrease incidences of major falls with injury and rehospitalizations for patients, while reducing pain levels, noted Murray. “This is next-level skilled nursing care,” she said. “I am passionate about working with seniors and excited to join the dedicated teams at Westgate Hills and Orchard Hill in promoting positive outcomes for our patients.”
In addition to in-facility physiatry services, Westgate Hills and Orchard Hill rehab patients benefit from the support of Comprehensive Rehab Consultants after discharge. Care coordination nurses help in ordering equipment, understanding medication and coordinating follow-up appointments. CRC is a physician-owned medical group, operating in more than 25 states.
