FREEHOLD, N.J., June 5, 2017 – Rutter & Roy LLP (formerly Watson, Stevens, Rutter & Roy), announced that Brian W. Keatts, Esq. of Shrewsbury has joined the firm as a senior associate attorney. Since its founding in 1909, the regional law firm has focused on the areas of energy, infrastructure and environment, primarily in New Jersey and surrounding states.
“Our firm’s unique culture distinguishes it from other law practices, and Brian’s experience and commitment to client service are a perfect fit,” said Rutter & Roy partner Christine A. Roy. “He brings added depth to our skilled team and will play an integral role in our continued growth.”
Most recently, Keatts served as an associate with Parker, Ibrahim & Berg, LLC in Somerset, where he focused on representing design professionals and financial institutions in litigation and transactional matters in various state and federal jurisdictions. He handled issues including alleged violations of TILA, RESPA and various consumer protection statutes, as well as claims of design defect and professional malpractice. Keatts was responsible for all facets of the litigation process, including outlining initial case strategy, engaging in motion practice, depositions and settlement negotiations
Previously, Keatts was an associate-principal at Zetlin & De Chiara, LLP, in New York, where he managed a complex roster of commercial and construction litigation matters in state and federal courts and arbitration proceedings, with a concentration on representing design professionals, developers, property owners and architects.
He is admitted to practice to the State Bar in New York and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas.

“Rutter & Roy has become known for its work involving New Jersey’s highly complex environmental regulations and its impact on interstate natural gas pipeline projects,” Keatts noted. “The firm has built its reputation on its knowledge of the industries it services and its mission to provide clients with the highest level of representation possible. It is the ideal place for me to grow my practice to the next level.”
Rutter & Roy’s team of attorneys has extensive experience in environmental law, eminent domain and land use and zoning, as well as commercial real estate, waste management, project planning and appeals.
