Top Specialist Overseeing New Initiative at Harrisburg, Pa., Skilled Nursing Facility 

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Jan. 9, 2024) Capitol Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Harrisburg has launched Physiatry programming and in-center consultative support, partnering with Jordan Klein, MD, as the new program’s director. Located at 4000 Linglestown Road, the 138-bed skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care. 

Physiatry services – also known as physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) services – blend pain treatments and physical therapy with the goal to help patients avoid surgery. This physician-led, “whole body” approach at Capitol centers on designing, coordinating and overseeing customized rehabilitation therapies for patients while managing their medical conditions, including co-morbidities. The program is tailored for individuals with a range of diagnoses and rehab needs.      

“I am pleased to join Capitol’s dedicated team in providing next-level skilled nursing care,” said Dr. Klein. “Our customized, patient-centered rehabilitative treatment plans aim to facilitate stronger outcomes for patients and significantly improve their quality of life.”  

Board certified in PM&R and brain injury medicine, Dr. Klein is affiliated with Premier Medical Rehab LLC. In addition, he serves as medical director for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Carlisle Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility and associate medical director of Encompass Health of Mechanicsburg. 

“The addition of Physiatry programming will help maximize Capitol’s rehab services and assist in improving patients’ functional outcomes,” said Nikki Gachot, regional director of market development for Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “Capitol is fortunate to have Dr. Klein join its clinical leadership team. He is working hand in hand with the facility’s medical, nursing and rehabilitative teams to provide additional physician presence, oversight and care.” 

Dr. Klein is a member of numerous medical organizations, including the Pennsylvania Medical Society, American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Society of Diplomates of Harrisburg. Dedicated to giving back to the community, Dr. Klein is an executive board member of Jewish Family Service of Greater Harrisburg and also volunteers with the Josh Klein Bikkur Cholim Society.
