Family Owns and Operates 22 ShopRite Stores in NJ and NY
MAHWAH, N.J., May 11, 2016 – At its May Savor.2016 Gala, the Center for Food Action (CFA) honored the Inserra family for its commitment and leadership in working to end hunger in northern New Jersey. As the owner and operator of 22 ShopRite stores located in New Jersey and New York, the Inserra family is a significant contributor to the CFA’s work, regularly providing food and financial support. The Gala took place at the Teaneck Marriott at Glenpointe in Teaneck.
“We are delighted to honor the Inserra family at our Gala,” said Patricia Espy, executive director of the CFA. “The Inserras have true compassion for our neighbors in need and have made it a priority to put healthy food on their tables. The family generously provides food, financial support, discounts and gift cards to the CFA. We value our partnership with the Inserras as we work together to prevent hunger and homelessness in communities.”
At the Gala, the CFA commemorated its 40 years of service, and Lori Stokes from WABC News served as the master of ceremonies. The CFA provides food, housing, utility and heating assistance and offers counseling and advocacy services to low-income individuals and families in northern New Jersey. Headquartered in Englewood, the CFA has sites in Fairview, Hackensack, Mahwah, Ridgefield, Ringwood, and Saddle Brook as well as in Paramus at Bergen Community College.
“On a daily basis, the CFA serves as a lifeline to many of the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Lawrence Inserra, Jr., the chairman and CEO of Inserra Supermarkets. “We are proud to partner with the CFA and support their efforts. On behalf of my family, I would like to thank the organization for this recognition.”
Following in the footsteps of Patsy Inserra, who founded Inserra Supermarkets in 1954, each generation of the Inserra family has built upon his vision and goal of improving the lives of those in need. Under the leadership of Lawrence Inserra, Jr., Inserra Supermarkets gives back to the community through a vast range of charitable and philanthropic endeavors to benefit organizations both large and small. Those regularly include hospitals and other health and wellness organizations; public and private schools; universities; churches and temples; food pantries and soup kitchens; and other non-profit organizations.
