Cushman & Wakefield has exclusive Agency for 280,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Facility
SECAUCUS, N.J., March 20, 2014 – More than 300 business and technology professionals attended the Grand Opening of NY2, the New York tri-state region’s newest data center, developed and owned by CoreSite. The 280,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art data center is situated in Secaucus. The facility is being marketed exclusively by Sean Brady and Brian Walsh of Cushman & Wakefield’s East Rutherford, N.J. office, Marc Rosenberg of the firm’s Morristown office, and Lou D’Avanzo in New York-Midtown.
“The Grand Opening was an exciting event that brought this state-of-the-art facility to the attention of the enterprise and technology business communities,” said Mark Norton, vice president, real estate solutions for CoreSite. “Phase one of this project has a total of 36,000 square feet of raised floor space, as well as 4.5 MW of critical power capacity.”

“NY2 is designed to solve customer requirements for reliable, secure, high-performance support of critical IT infrastructure,” said Brady, senior director and co-founder of Cushman & Wakefield’s Data Center Advisory Group. “It provides a unique combination of cost-effective capacity and power, as well as diverse high-performance network connectivity and interconnected communities of enterprise, carrier, and Cloud providers.”
NY2’s features include a low-latency connection to CoreSite’s existing NY1 facility in Manhattan, and data centers located at 111 8th Avenue and 60 S. Hudson Street in New York and 165 Halsey Street in Newark, N.J. The building has diverse fiber-optic POEs, MDFs and IDFs with multiple native fiber providers and is designed with the flexibility to accommodate build-to-suit, powered shell, wholesale or colocation of cages and cabinets. Customers will be able to access CoreSite’s Open Cloud Exchange and AWS Direct Connect in the facility.
“NY2 offers up to 21 MW of critical load, two diverse utility feeds with up to 2N redundancy on generator, UPS, PDU and RPPs,” Brady said. “The power comes into the building at 26KV, and the facility is designed to deliver a 1.35 PUE across all systems and PUE as low as 1.2 across systems not dedicated to a specific customer requirement. Finally, all facility infrastructure is located above the 500-year flood plain, important to CoreSite and its customers.
“The location is superb,” said Brady. “Transportation is nearby with NJ Transit buses and the Secaucus Junction train station, and there are hotels nearby as well. The location is easily commutable from Manhattan by bus or train.”
The Grand Opening also had a Winter Olympics theme, tied to the recent games in Sochi, Russia. That theme featured PlayStations and Wii Games in the booths of the event’s Gold Sponsors to simulate bobsledding, snowboarding, skiing and more. The Gold sponsors were Power Design, Zayo, exp, tw telecom, Forest Electric, Mitsubishi Electric, KeyBank Real Estate Capital and Environetics.
The event’s Silver Sponsors were Cushman & Wakefield, Critical Solutions Group, Data Centers Delivered, and Cogent Communications. Bronze sponsors were Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, RASco Inc., Seaborn Networks, Stulz, RBC Capital Markets, Lightower, and Milrose Consultants Inc.
