AACVPR Event Recognizes Rehabilitation’s Key Role in Reducing Effects of Heart Disease

POINT PLEASANT, N.J., Feb. 19, 2021 – During American Heart Month, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) has designated February 14-20 as Cardiac Rehabilitation Week, recognizing rehabilitation’s key role in reducing the effects of heart disease. Residents and care team members at Crest Pointe Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Point Pleasant joined in this year’s “Beating Strong, Living Long” themed event. Pictured (standing, L-R) are Crest Pointe’s Dawn Vena, director of nursing, and Dr. Leonard Sandler, FACC, cardiac director, with residents (seated, L-R) Judith Garris and Lucille Mueller.

Located at 1515 Hulse Road, Crest Pointe provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care. The skilled nursing facility’s Cardiac Care Program is designed to meet the healthcare needs of area residents. The specialized program aims to promote independence and quality of life through reducing symptoms and decreasing disability in heart patients, while increasing their participation in physical and social activities.

Founded in 1985, the AACVPR is a multidisciplinary professional association for those in the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation field. Its mission is to reduce morbidity, mortality and disability through education, prevention, rehabilitation, research and disease management.

Crest Pointe offers a resource library of physician-curated content, addressing many topics of interest – including cardiac rehab – for families of patients and the larger community. The library and more information on the skilled nursing facility can be found on the facility’s website, https://crestpointerehab.com.
