CoreSite’s enterprise-class 280,000-square-foot NY2 facility provides cloud access and global connectivity

SECAUCUS, N.J., Feb. 19, 2014 – CoreSite Realty Corporation (NYSE: COR), a provider of secure, reliable, high-performance data center solutions, recently opened its “NY2” data center, the company’s 16th and newest facility, and has tapped Cushman & Wakefield to market the state-of-the-art center. The assignment is being headed by Sean Brady, senior director and co-founder of the commercial real estate services firm’s Data Center Advisory Group, along with Marc Rosenberg, Lou D’Avanzo and Brian Walsh.

Totaling 280,000 square feet and located in Secaucus, the data center became fully operational on December 1, 2013. The facility has low-latency connection to CoreSite’s existing NY1 facility in Manhattan, as well as data centers at 111 8th Avenue and 60 Hudson Street in New York, 165 Halsey Street in Newark, N.J., and 275 Hartz Way in Secaucus. The building has diverse fiber-optic POEs, MDS and IDS with multiple native fiber providers.

“NY2 is designed to solve customer requirements for reliable, secure, high-performance support of critical IT infrastructure,” said Brady. “It provides a unique combination of cost-effective capacity and power, diverse high-performance network connectivity, and interconnected communities of enterprise, carrier, and cloud providers.”

CoreSite’s new facility is designed with the flexibility to accommodate build-to-suit, powered shell, wholesale or colocation. Within a colocation operation, customer deployments may range from cabinets to cages or private suites. Customers will be able to access CoreSite’s Open Cloud Exchange and AWS Direct Connect in the facility.

“This state-of-the-art facility offers up to 21 MW of critical load, two diverse utility feeds with up to 2N redundancy on generator, UPS, PDU and RPPs,” Brady said. “The power comes into the building at 26KV, and the facility is designed to deliver a 1.35 PUE across all systems and PUE as low as 1.2 across systems not dedicated to a specific customer requirement.”

“In keeping with CoreSite’s strong record of reliability, evidenced by three straight years of six 9s uptime across the company, NY2 is designed to deliver superior reliability to the local market. As a key component, the data center and all electrical and mechanical systems are above the 500-year floodplain,” Brady said. “The building was also constructed to LEED, Energy Star, and SSAE-16 Type 2 certification.”

NY2 also offers customer amenities including an on-site covered parking garage, office space and conference rooms, and a tech lounge with televisions, seating and a kitchen.

Based in Denver, Colorado, CoreSite operates sixteen data centers in eight markets, including Denver, New York/New Jersey, Boston, Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia, Miami, Chicago, Silicon Valley and Los Angeles.
