Firm to Open New Office in Scranton; Daniel Walsh added to Brokerage Team

SCRANTON, Pa., July 16, 2014 – In response to significant growth in its regional industrial brokerage practice, commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield has announced the opening of a Scranton office and the expansion of its team with the hiring of seasoned professional Daniel Walsh.

“Our Scranton office will give us boots on the ground on both ends of the I-81 Corridor,” noted Cushman & Wakefield’s Gerry Blinebury, Jr., who heads the firm’s industrial team out of its Harrisburg office. “As market fundamentals continue to improve, this is an ideal time for us to add capacity to better serve our client base.” The firm will take occupancy of the space at 201 Lackawanna Avenue this summer.

A resident of Eynon, Pennsylvania, Mr. Walsh will be based at the new location and focus primarily on industrial landlord and tenant representation work. He will also support the needs of Cushman & Wakefield’s office, retail and capital markets service lines locally. Previously, Walsh served for 10 years as Vice President of corporate services for Mericle Commercial Real Estate, the largest privately held real estate company in the State of Pennsylvania. Before that, he was the Scranton Plan administrator for the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce; he knows this market and its development path quite well.

“The Northeast Pennsylvania market has undergone a transformation over the past five years,” Walsh said. “The region has evolved from a market with a limited number of landlords and limited new development to a burgeoning industrial hub with millions of square feet of new construction and a growing number of national institutions and REITS investing here. I have known the members of Cushman & Wakefield’s Pennsylvania industrial team for many years and have great respect for the organization. This is a great opportunity for me and for the company.”

John Morris, who leads Cushman & Wakefield’s Industrial Services for the Americas, agrees, and noted that the Pennsylvania industrial group fills a critical role for the firm. “Our team has secured significant market share, with added potential in the pipeline as developers and tenants alike continue to seek opportunities in the region. Dan is a great choice to get our new office up and running because he is experienced and deeply familiar with the dynamics of the local market.”

Walsh earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications from Marywood University. A licensed real estate salesperson in the State of Pennsylvania, he has been active in IOREBA and the Tri-State Association of Realtors.
