NASHVILLE, TN., Oct. 3, 2014 –Cushman & Wakefield's John Morris, SIOR, leader, Industrial Services for the Americas, will serve as a moderator at the upcoming SIOR 2014 Fall World Conference. Slated for Oct. 23-25 at the Omni Nashville Hotel in Nashville, this annual event is recognized as a premier educational and networking conference for commercial real estate brokers.

Morris will lead a discussion titled "Counter Trends – When Opposite Investment Tactics Attract." Sponsored by NAIOP, the panel will feature Prologis' Dan Letter, SVP, investment officer; Marcus & Millichap's Paul Johnson, senior director; and Chas.Hawkins Co., Inc.'s William Hawkins, chairman. They will talk about how large-scale and smaller niche investments both have been crucial to the growth of industrial real estate. The group will address labor, traffic concerns and other key factors that impact investment appeal.

"Industrial investment and development definitely is not one-size-fits-all," Morris noted. "For example, the growth of e-commerce has fueled new big-box distribution center projects in major hubs and key markets measurably. At the same time as e-commerce operations are being established for next-day and same day fulfillment in large metro areas, the demand for smaller, infill facilities is on the rise. Changing service requirements, elevated transportation costs and access to labor are some of the reasons why concentrating around major population centers will continue to be a focus for these businesses."

Based in Rosemont and with local representation worldwide, Cushman & Wakefield's industrial brokerage platform provides global resources and local expertise for tenant and landlord representation, disposition and acquisition services, transaction management, and industrial consulting including labor and demographic analysis. In 2013, globally, this group completed nearly 8,900 industrial real estate transactions totaling 348 million square feet, with an aggregate value of $13.3 billion.
