Annual Fundraiser Supports Organization’s Programs and Services

PARAMUS, N.J., Oct. 2, 2018 – More than 100 participants came out for a day of friendly competition during the Diabetes Foundation’s (DF) 29th annual Golf Classic, which recently took place at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus. The event raised $122,000 in support of the organization’s ongoing programs and services, including medication assistance and camp sponsorships for youngsters living with diabetes.

This year’s Golf Classic honored DF Trustee Kenneth Geary Jr., vice-president of investments for Wells Fargo Advisors. Highlights of the day included brunch, a cocktail reception, dinner, raffle baskets and a live auction moderated by former New York Giants offensive tackle Karl Nelson. Golfers also had an opportunity to test their skill during a “beat the pro” challenge and closest to the pin contest.

“We applaud our sponsors, participants and volunteers for making this year’s Golf Classic one of our most successful to date,” said Ginine Cilenti, DF executive director. “Living with diabetes is hard – but getting support shouldn’t have to be. Proceeds from this event will make our work possible and have a tangible and meaningful impact in the lives of countless local families.”

This year’s Golf Classic sponsors included businesses, corporations and individuals, including Event Sponsor BD (Becton Dickinson). Additional sponsors included Inserra Supermarkets, Brake Parts Inc., Wells Fargo Advisors, Amber Road, Caryl Communications, M&T Bank, Pilgrim Advisors LLC, Swan Global Investments, Glickman & Christensen, OritaniBank Charitable Foundation, The Retail Performance Company, Atrium Pharmacy, Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church, Oberg & Lindquist Corp., and RE/MAX.
