Family Fun, Model Trains Highlight Month’s Happenings

POTTSVILLE, Pa., March 12, 2013 – Longer days, more sunshine and the renewal of nature all signify the onset of spring. Throughout the month of April, Fairlane Village Mall will be celebrating the season with a series of events the whole family can enjoy. All events are free and open to the public as follows:
- Fri., April 12 and Sat., April 13: The Schuylkill County Quilters Guild will host its annual quilt show in the storefront across from Super Shoes. More than 100 handcrafted works of art will be on display throughout this two-day exhibit.
- Sat., April 20: An Early Childhood Fair, sponsored by the Local Interagency Coordinating Council of Schuylkill County, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During this fun and educational event, local schools, daycare centers, libraries and more will have displays in Center Court and throughout the mall offering crafts, games and more. Children who register at the Early Intervention table will get a "Participation Ticket." Youngsters completing the requirements will receive a free play pack! - Wed., April 24 to Sun., April 28: Learn about the history of the Reading Railroad through an interactive model train display taking place in Center Court and hosted by The Reading Company Technical & Historical Society. The model trains, which shoppers can take a turn at running themselves, will feature authentic sounds and intricate details that bring railroading to life.
Fairlane Village Mall, "Where Schuylkill County Shops For Value," is located on Route 61 North, just a mile from downtown Pottsville. For the third year in a row, Fairlane Village Mall was named Best Shopping Center in the annual "Best Of" competition sponsored by Schuylkill Living Magazine.
