Fairs, Festivals and Santas Arrival Highlight Months Happenings

POTTSVILLE, Pa., Oct. 28, 2013 – The start of the holiday shopping season has never been this much fun! Santa's arrival highlights a full calendar of November happenings for all ages at Fairlane Village Mall. Events are free and open to the public as follows:
- Sat., Nov. 2: The popular Family Reading Festival sponsored by The Republican-Herald newspaper returns to Fairlane Village Mall, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. At the annual event, readers of all ages will have the opportunity to meet children's book authors, and enjoy an array of crafts and activities courtesy of area schools, libraries and other organizations.
- Sat., Nov. 9: Give the gift of life this holiday season by participating in the American Red Cross' Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Blood donors of all types are needed to help maintain critical blood bank supplies. To make a donation appointment, please call (800) GIVE-LIFE.
- Sat., Nov. 9: At 11 a.m., shoppers can enjoy a spirited holiday performance from the talented students at Mary Beth's Gymnastics & Cheering Studio.
- Sat., Nov. 16: Marking the official start of the holiday season, Santa is arriving at the mall and brings with him a full day of fun! The festivities kick off with a puppet show at 11 a.m., followed by a singing group performing holiday favorites from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. From noon to 3 p.m., mall-wide activities include caricature drawings, face painting, a bounce house, balloon animals, a petting zoo and more! A free slice of pizza will be given to the first 100 children who visit Santa, courtesy of Roman Delight.
- Sat., Nov. 30: The Hillside SPCA will host a Craft Show with vendors located throughout the mall offering handmade craft items for sale. Proceeds benefit Hillside SPCA.
Fairlane Village Mall, "Where Schuylkill County Shops For Value," is located on Route 61 North, just a mile from downtown Pottsville. For the third year in a row, Fairlane Village Mall was named Best Shopping Center in the annual "Best Of" competition sponsored by Schuylkill Living Magazine.
