POTTSVILLE, Pa., Jan. 9, 2012 – This February, Fairlane Village Mall will host a variety of programs for people of all ages, including a Girl Scout Cookie sale, a Hillside SPCA fundraiser and a model airplane display. In addition, shoppers can expect to find extra savings during the mall’s President’s Day Sidewalk Sales. The following events are free and open to the public:
- Sat., Feb. 4 and Sun., Feb. 5 – The public is invited to come see the amazing flying machines of the Tuscarora RC Club during their Model Airplane Display. Model airplanes of all sizes will be on view during regular mall hours in Center Court. Members of this remote-control airplane club will show off some of their prized models and answer questions about these works of art that really can fly.
- Sat., Feb. 11 – Learn about the history of the Schuylkill County area at the History Fair, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the mall. Visit with historical societies from local towns, see informational displays, and hear about the county’s rich heritage during this annual one-day-only event.
- Sat., Feb. 11 – Shoppers are encouraged to purchase some tasty treats as Brownie Troop 31227 from Schuylkill Haven hosts a Girl Scout Cookie sale in Center Court from noon to 4 p.m.
- Sat., Feb 11 and Sun., Feb 12 – The Hillside SPCA will host a “For the Love of Animals” fundraising event during mall hours. The organization will have photos on hand of the animals available for adoption. Contact Josi Leach for more information at (570) 462-1881.
- Fri., Feb. 17 through Mon., Feb 20 – Area shoppers will enjoy great President’s Day savings during Fairlane Village Mall’s Sidewalk Sale days. Participating stores throughout the Mall will offer deep discounts on loads of merchandise during regular mall hours.
- Sat., Feb. 18 and Sun., Feb. 19 – The Girl Scout Cookie sales continue in Center Court as Brownie Troop 31026 of Minersville sets up shop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
- Sat., Feb. 25 – The Little Villagers Kids Club Puppet Show will take guests on a “Magic Carpet Ride” at 11 a.m. in Center Court. The story, presented by Sadecky’s Puppets, features a soaring adventure of new lands and interesting people.
Fairlane Village Mall, “Where Schuylkill County Shops For Value,” is located on Route 61 North, just a mile from downtown Pottsville. For the second year in a row, Fairlane Village Mall was named Best Shopping Center in the annual “Best Of” competition sponsored by Schuylkill Living Magazine.
