Fairlane Village Mall to Host American Red Cross Blood Drive on March 15
Donors Needed to Replenish Blood Supply
POTTSVILLE, Pa., Feb. 28, 2014 – The public is invited to give the gift of life and health during an American Red Cross blood drive hosted by Fairlane Village Mall. The blood drive will take place on Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fairlane Village Mall in the storefront across from Super Shoes.
Those interested in donating blood are required to make an appointment in advance by calling (800) RED-CROSS or registering at http://www.redcrossblood.org/.
More than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day, according to the American Red Cross. In fact, every two seconds someone in this country needs blood. Donations this year have become particularly vital. Since the beginning of January, winter storms and freezing temperatures have caused nearly 1,500 American Red Cross blood drive cancellations in 34 states and Washington, D.C., resulting in about 50,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations.
"Whenever there's a need in the community, our wonderful tenants and mall guests always step up to do their part," said Heather Stine, Fairlane Village Mall's director of marketing. "Donating blood is a simple, selfless way to help save a life. We encourage anyone that can take a bit of time out of their schedule to stop by and help make a difference."
Fairlane Village Mall, "Where Schuylkill County Shops For Value," is located on Route 61 North, just a mile from downtown Pottsville. For more information about community events hosted by the mall or special sales for area shoppers, visit http://www.shopfairlanevillage.com/.
