Registered Dietitian Leads LiveRight Monthly Events and Provides Individual Nutrition Counseling for Shoppers
FAIR LAWN, N.J., May 27, 2014 – Inserra Supermarkets has appointed Dana Gaule, R.D. as the retail dietitian for ShopRite of Fair Lawn . In this capacity, Gaule will expand ShopRite of Fair Lawn’s nutrition counseling and programming, providing customers with a free wellness resource. The store also hosts a LiveRight calendar of events each month featuring healthy food and meal preparation tips for people of all ages.
“Dana brings a strong background in nutrition counseling to her role as retail dietitian, and we welcome her to the Inserra Supermarkets family,” said Lindsey Inserra, VP of Health and Wellness. “At ShopRite of Fair Lawn, she will lead our effort in expanding the store’s wellness programming aimed at promoting healthy eating and assisting our customers in making sound food choices.”
Gaule earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nutritional sciences, with a minor in public health, from Boston University and completed a dietetic internship at The College of Saint Elizabeth. She has a broad range of experience in the field, including providing evidence-based medical nutrition therapy for diabetes, heart disease, gastrointestinal disorders and other conditions. In addition, Gaule has experience in nutrition counseling for seniors and has worked with the Meals on Wheels program.
“One of my main goals as a registered dietitian is to help clients make sustainable lifestyle changes to improve their overall well-being,” said Gaule. “I am truly passionate about it and am proud to be part of the Inserra Supermarkets team, where the health and wellness of customers is a top priority.”
Each month, dietitians at Inserra’s ShopRite supermarkets located throughout New Jersey and New York State host a series of events for the general public. In addition to small group and one-on-one counseling, they host healthy cooking classes, recipe demonstrations, pantry makeover seminars and in-store aisle tours. Each store also offers ready-to-heat, heart-healthy Chef Express menu choices.
Inserra Supermarkets is widely acknowledged as a good corporate citizen dedicated to making life better for local residents. One recent activity includes ShopRite Partners in Caring, which challenges associates to band together as part of National Hunger Action Month to raise awareness and funds to alleviate hunger in their local communities. The company also supports the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, based in Hillside, and Table to Table, the first food rescue program serving Northern New Jersey.
