January: ShopRite of Jersey City Celebrates New Year with a Host of Nutrition and Wellness Events
Activities Include Wellness Fair, Blood Pressure Screening, Cooking Classes and More
JERSEY CITY, N.J., Dec. 29, 2016 – ShopRite of Jersey City, an Inserra Supermarkets store, is hosting a wide range of nutrition and wellness events throughout the month of January. The store’s registered dietitian, Lynette Hem-Lee, R.D., will lead the activities with easy-to-implement advice and instruction. All events are open to the public, held at ShopRite of Jersey City and do not require advance registration unless otherwise noted:
Wed., Jan. 4 – Healthy Holiday Detox, 3 – 5 p.m. Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner and talk to Lynette about healthy, safe and effective ways to recover from any holiday indulgences.
Fri., Jan. 6 – New Year, New You, 3 – 5 p.m. Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner for ideas on how to incorporate some new, healthy habits into your life.
Sun., Jan. 8, 1 – 3 p.m. & Fri., Jan. 27, 3 – 5 p.m. – Product Spotlight: Welch’s Frozen Avocados. Lynette, ShopRite’s in-store dietitian, will be preparing a delicious and healthy smoothie using this month’s product Spotlight: Welch’s Frozen Avocados.
Mon., Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30 – Eat Well, Be Happy 4 Week Weight Management Class, 1 – 2 p.m. Please note space is limited and pre-registration is required. Lynette will be hosting a FREE weight management class.
Tues, Jan. 10 – Free Blood Pressure Screening, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Stop by and have your blood pressure checked by a registered nurse. Get to know your numbers.
Thurs., Jan. 12 – Adult Culinary Workshop, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Please note space is limited, and pre-registration is required. ShopRite’s in-store dietitian Lynette and Chef Denise will create a healthy and delicious meal as part of the Culinary Workshop Series. This month’s theme is “New Year Smackdown.” Sign up at the Pharmacy. Cost is $20 per person,
Fri., Jan. 13 & Tues., Jan. 24 – Meal of the Week Sampling, 1 – 3 p.m. Want to add some excitement to your dinner? Lynette, ShopRite’s in-store dietitian, will be sampling this week’s featured meal. Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner for a recipe.
Fri., Jan. 20 – Race for the Cure, 1 – 4 p.m. Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner and meet the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure team. Get information and registration details on the 2017 race to be held in Jersey City.
Sat., Jan. 21 – Mini Wellness Fair, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Stop by and meet the representatives of different health facilities in our area. Taste a healthy food sample and chat with Lynette, the in-store dietitian.
Sun., Jan. 29 – Tailgate without the Weight, 1 – 3 p.m. Stop by the Dietitian’s Corner for some new ideas & great recipes to help you tailgate a little healthier this year.
Mon., Jan. 30 – Kid’s Culinary Workshop, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Please note space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Kids will enjoy this fun cooking class led by Chef Denise and ShopRite’s in-store dietitian, Lynette. This month’s theme is “Funky Food Science.” The cost is $20 for one child (with an adult) and $10 for each additional child.
All Inserra Supermarkets’ Pharmacy Departments provide flu shots. Walk-ins are welcome, and most insurance plans are accepted. No insurance? Not a problem. Ask the pharmacist for details.
