NJDEP Officials, Industry Experts to Discuss Key Issues Impacting CRE Redevelopment and Remediation
EDISON, N.J. (June 20, 2023) – From inland and coastal flooding rules, and soil remediation standards, to warehouse issues and environmental justice, New Jersey’s rapidly changing standards have a tremendous impact on how the commercial real estate industry approaches development in the state. NAIOP New Jersey’s annual Regulatory, Legislative and Legal Update will examine the latest rules and offer insight into what companies need to do to ensure they are in compliance and positioned to move forward.
The breakfast program will be held on Tuesday, July 11, at the Northeast Carpenters Training Center ,75 Fieldcrest Ave. in Edison.
Keynote speaker Shawn T. LaTourette, commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), will be joined by NJDEP officials and industry experts who will address a number of priority issues. Confirmed topics and speakers include:
- NJ PACT (Inland and Coastal Flood Rules): Andrew B. Robins, chair, Environmental Law Practice Group, Sills Cummis & Gross P.C.; Michael Sheenan, environmental engineer, NJDEP; and Kristen Roslund, Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, Inc.
- Site Remediation and Emerging Contaminants Update (Soil Standards, PFAS): David E. Haymes, Contaminated Site Remediation & Development assistant commissioner, NJDEP; Dennis M. Toft, chair, Environmental Law, CSG Law; and Cathleen S. Bryant, LSRP, director of LSRP Services, EWMA.
- Warehouse Update and Preempting Local Opposition (Case Studies, Lessons Learned): Mark Shearer, senior managing director, Rockefeller Group; Anthony Pizzutillo, principal, Pizzutillo Public Affairs; William Murray, executive vice president and national director of public affairs, MikeWorldWide; and Scot Murdock, AIA, partner, KSS Architects.
In addition, NAIOP NJ CEO Mike McGuinness will share updates on the Supreme Court’s Waterfront Commission decision, environmental justice rules and natural resource damages (NRD).
Networking begins at 7:45 a.m., followed by the program from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. New Jersey licensed real estate brokers/salespersons, attorneys, architects and LSRPs may receive continuing education credits for attending the program.
