June 6: NAIOP NJ Chapter Meeting: “The Rise of Experiential Retail”
Panel Discussion will Examine Impact of Today’s Trends on CRE Industry

TEANECK, N.J., May 22, 2017 – To successfully compete in today’s omnichannel retail world, brick-and-mortar stores are transforming their spaces into community gathering places. Malls, town centers and urban shopping districts are attracting shoppers by offering personalized, interactive experiences featuring food, fitness, and plenty of fun, while providing ample opportunity to touch, wear and/or taste their merchandise.

Industry leaders will discuss the impact of this “experiential retail” trend on commercial real estate development and opportunities for investors during NAIOP New Jersey’s next Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. The event will be held at the Teaneck Marriott at Glenpointe in Teaneck, beginning with a cocktail reception and networking at 5 p.m. followed by dinner and the program.

Clark Machemer with Rockefeller Group will lead the discussion with speakers Herbert Eilberg, chief investment officer with Urban Edge Properties; Nancy Erickson, executive managing director at Colliers International; and Brian Whitmer, senior director Metropolitan Area Capital Markets Group with Cushman & Wakefield.

The panel will address topics including how developers and owners are repositioning malls and other retail properties; the challenge of determining the right mix of retailers, store sizes and formats; which players are expanding or contracting and why; an update on the market and cap rates; and current trends in financing by domestic and foreign investors.
