Well-Established Cultural Initiative a Hallmark of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Skilled Nursing Center

Young Kim

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (Sept. 20, 2023) Laurel Brook Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center recently welcomed Young Kim as the new director of its Korean Community Wing. This well-established residential program at the Mount Laurel skilled nursing center has long met demand for culture-centric, long-term care in the regional community and well beyond.

Founded in 2009, Laurel Brook’s 50-bed Korean Community Wing provides a culturally authentic environment for the care and comfort of Korean seniors. With the support of caregivers and medical professionals who share their values and speak their language, residents enjoy ethnic cuisine prepared in-house, special cultural programming and religious services.

Its new director brings extensive experience in leading Korean cultural initiatives to his new role. “The entire team at Laurel Brook is thrilled to welcome Young Kim, who is highly respected for his program expertise and warm manner,” said Marquis’ Kate Bauer, regional director of market development of Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “He has been meeting with Laurel Brook’s Korean residents and their families to help ensure both a smooth transition and that all of their needs are met.”

Within Laurel Brook’s Korean Community Wing, resident rooms and lounge areas are decorated with traditional elements, such as large pieces of visual artwork featuring Korean landscapes. Activities include traditional Korean crafts, karaoke and sing-along, as well as a variety of events that tie to Korean holidays.

“I am delighted to join the talented team here at Laurel Brook,” said Young Kim, who also serves as the Korean program director at two other Marquis-supported skilled nursing facilities. “Laurel Brook’s Korean residents enjoy familiarity in every aspect of their care and daily activities. It’s a very special place and a clear reflection of our focus on quality of life for seniors.”
