Eldergrow in action
FREEHOLD, N.J., Sept. 8, 2022 – Marquis Health Consulting Services will launch an innovative way to keep residents at its skilled nursing and assisted living client centers connected to nature with a blossoming partnership with Eldergrow, a Seattle-based company that brings nature indoors with indoor mobile gardens. This partnership takes “root” at The Jewish Home for Rehabilitation & Nursing in Freehold, with a Kickoff Garden Celebration planned this month.
Marquis and Eldergrow‘s partnership includes a mix of Therapeutic Horticulture Gardens and Culinary Herb Gardens in 14 communities across three Mid-Atlantic states. Each program offers one-of-a-kind wellness benefits which give residents new purpose as they care for their new gardens.
Studies show that therapeutic horticulture reduces depression, improves balance, and lowers the risk factors for dementia by 36%. Eldergrow’s programs offer seniors a therapeutic connection to nature through enrichment classes on horticulture, culinary, and garden art.
“We recognize the unique health benefits that a connection with nature brings,” says Barry Munk, Marquis CEO. “That is why we are excited for this opportunity to partner with Eldergrow to ensure that the skilled nursing and assisted living centers we support can help their residents benefit from nature year-round with unique wellness programs.”
Several Marquis-supported communities, including The Jewish Home, will care for their indoor gardens with in-person support of Eldergrow Educators who conduct bimonthly therapeutic classes with residents. In addition, Marquis will rollout Eldergrow’s unique DIY Culinary Herb Program. Communities receive monthly deliveries of fresh herbs and study various cultures and recipes as part of an “Herb of the Month” program.
“We are excited to commence our new partnership with Marquis Health Consulting Services to bring Mother Nature indoors to their residents,” says Eldergrow’s CEO & Founder, Orla Concannon. “This is easily a reflection of the innovative wellness that their client centers provide to residents because if you have a healthy garden, you know you have a healthy community!”
