May 8: Diabetes Foundation to Honor Novo Nordisk, Local Physicians at “Visions of Hope” Awards Dinner

HACKENSACK, N.J., April 30, 2018 – Diabetes Foundation Inc. (DFI) will honor Novo Nordisk and local physicians at its “Visions of Hope” awards dinner and fundraiser on Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at The Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey. The gala raises funds for the non-profit organization’s ongoing programs that provide tangible resources, support and medical supplies to people living with diabetes in New Jersey.

Novo Nordisk, a global healthcare company with a U.S. headquarters in Plainsboro, New Jersey, will receive the Foundation’s Corporate Honoree Award, in recognition of their substantial charitable donations to the Foundation’s medication program. Honored as Physicians of the Year will be Dr. Joseph Giangola, medical director, Diabetes Team at Hackensack University Medical Center; and Dr. Steven N. Ghanny, pediatric endocrinologist at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital, Hackensack Meridian Health. These prominent local physicians will be honored for their work helping the nonprofit by providing resources for diabetes patients.

Jim Burt, New York Giants football legend and Saddle River resident, will serve as Honorary Chairman and Mahwah Mayor Bill Laforet will act as emcee. The evening’s entertainment will be provided by Wallace Roney, a renowned jazz trumpeter and Diabetes Foundation client. In addition, the evening’s festivities will include a live and silent auction whereby attendees will bid on vacations, memorabilia, jewelry and other valuable items. Novo Nordisk will match donations made during the event up to $25,000.

Corporate sponsors for the event are Jack Daniels Motors, Oritani Bank, BD, Inserra Supermarkets, M&T Bank, Sanofi, and McCann and McCann. Sponsorship packages are still available.

The Host Committee for “Visions of Hope” is comprised of 25 local business leaders and community members including real estate agent and business owner Terrie O’Connor and Lindsey Inserra, vice president of ShopRite Inserra Supermarkets.
