McAlister’s Deli Opens First New Jersey Location at The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle
Fast-Casual Restaurant Concept Joins Diverse Tenant Mix at Eastman-Managed Shopping Center

LIVINGSTON, N.J. – May 3, 2016 – McAlister’s Deli recently celebrated its official opening at The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle, located at 277 Eisenhower Parkway in Livingston. The restaurant, which occupies approximately 3,000 square feet at the 93,000-square-foot shopping center managed and developed by Eastman Companies, marks the fast-casual chain’s first location in New Jersey.

The transaction was negotiated by David Perlmutter of Perlmutter Properties for Eastman Companies. Jay Miller of CBRE/FAMECO of New Jersey represented the tenant.

“We conducted extensive market research and determined that The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle’s location in one of the state’s most prosperous commercial and residential hubs – along with its diverse co-tenancy and accessibility to the nearby towns of Roseland and East Hanover – perfectly aligned with our business goals,” said Ash Ram, general partner.

Ram intends to showcase McAlister’s Deli’s “customer first” philosophy at the new Livingston location. “What really makes us unique is our focus on customer service. We refer to patrons as ‘guests’ and want them to feel like part of our family. After placing a counter order, servers bring the food directly to your table, refill your drinks as necessary and provide any extras that diners may need. Our staff also busses tables when guests are finished. It’s these added conveniences – along with our fresh and varied menu – that has earned our brand the loyalty of many repeat customers,” he said.

Founded in 1989, McAlister’s Deli is known for its sandwiches, spuds, soups, salads, desserts and Famous Sweet Tea. In addition to dine-in and take-out service, the restaurant also offers catering with a selection of sandwich trays, box lunches, desserts, a hot spud bar and more.

“The demand for fast-casual restaurants continues to grow in key markets across the United States,” said Peter Schofel, Eastman Companies’ managing partner. “The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle provided this business owner with the opportunity to enter a new market at a successful and well-shopped retail center. We are pleased to welcome McAlister’s Deli to our growing retail tenant mix, and are confident the restaurant will become an integral part of the local dining landscape and a strong part of the community.”

Anchored by The Fresh Market, a 23,000-square-foot supermarket, The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle’s impressive retail tenant lineup offers a combination of signature national brands and locally owned favorites including Choice Pet Supply, Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, Ike’s Bagel Café, Olive Garden, The GameStop, Wine Legend, M&T Bank and Zen Japanese Restaurant. Florian Suserman of Ripco Real Estate is exclusive leasing agent.

Situated in one of the region’s busiest retail corridors, The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle serves a growing residential population of more than 158,000 people within a five-mile radius. The marketplace offers an average household income of more than $141,700, and the daily traffic count exceeds 39,000 vehicles.

A Regional Retail Hub

McAlister’s Deli joins a host of new retailers, restaurants and service providers that have recently opened in Livingston. In the last 18 months the township has seen more than 30 new businesses either set up shop or announce plans to open here, including leading national brands such as beauty superstore ULTA, 18/8 Fine Men’s Salon, The Container Store, Buy Buy Baby, World Market, DSW Shoes, TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack, among many others. Several locally owned service providers, including a hair salon, insurance professionals and Summit Medical Group, also have opened within the township.

On Route 10 West and less than a mile from The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle at another Eastman-owned and managed retail site, national home furnishings retailer Bassett Home Furnishings celebrated its grand opening in April. The center also includes Men’s Wearhouse and a recently opened Dunkin’ Donuts.

Livingston’s strong demographics and population diversity, “have proven to be a winning combination for new retailers coming into the township,” added Schofel. “This inflow of new businesses not only helps to stimulate the local economy, but it gives residents even more reason to shop and dine local.”
