Programs will Focus on FEMA’s Revised Flood Maps and the Rights and Liabilities of Commercial Real Estate Transactions

EAST RUTHERFORD. N.J., March 27, 2013 – On April 12, commercial real estate development association NAIOP New Jersey will present a two-part seminar focusing on key topics in the current marketplace. The program is slated for the Sheraton Meadowlands in East Rutherford and will provide the opportunity for industry professionals to earn up to four CEU credits.
Part one of the morning’s agenda will focus on FEMA’s Revised Flood Maps. Richard Burrough of Langan Engineering & Environmental Services will discuss FEMA’s rules and regulations for building in flood zones, site mapping, flood mitigation, financial issues and more. He will then moderate a panel of experts discussing flood-related design, tenant, survey and legal issues. Panelists will include Dave Gibbons of Elberon Development Co., Dr. Jon Miller of the Stevens Institute of Technology, James Rhatican of Wolff & Samson and Joe Romano of Langan.
Part two is titled “Agency & Disclosure and Legal Matters for Commercial Real Estate Brokers.” Andrew Houston of Cassidy Turley will discuss the duties, rights and liabilities of parties involved in transactions, focusing on definitions, obligations, acceptable practices and potential violations, and disclosure requirements. Attorney Rhatican will cover the important legal aspects of transactions, including broker agreements and agreements of sale. He will also lead attendees through a mock negotiation.
