Bloomingdale Resident and Undefeated Local Six-Time Champion Places Fifth at NAA Championships in Denver
MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J., July 11, 2014 – Maintenance professionals from across the country faced off recently at the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) 2014 Maintenance Mania® competition at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. Making his fifth appearance at the event, Bloomingdale resident David Berryman, a technician for The Kamson Corporation and member of the New Jersey Apartment Association (NJAA), placed fifth overall with a time of 1minute, 24.898 seconds.
Maintenance Mania is a national program offered by NAA and presenting sponsor HD Supply, in which more than 4,000 maintenance technicians compete for time in eight skill-based challenges. At the end of the competition year, NAA offers the top participant from each of its 10 regions, plus 10 wild card participants, the chance to compete for the national title and $7,000 in grand prizes. Lannon Quintana of Denver was named 2014 National Champion with a winning time of 1 minute, 17.485 seconds.
Berryman earned a spot in this year’s finals after winning the NJAA’s Maintenance Mania competition in March for the sixth consecutive year. During his previous trips to the national event he placed third overall in 2010 and won an individual award in 2012. He represented the Northeast region, which includes New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island and Maine.
“NJAA is extremely proud of what Dave has achieved, both individually and as a five-time representative for our region,” said NJAA Executive Director Jean Maddalon. “Maintenance technicians are essential to the success of the multifamily housing industry, and we applaud the NAA for paying tribute to these hardworking professionals through the Maintenance Mania program.”
The New Jersey Apartment Association is a non-profit trade association representing owners, managers, builders and developers of nearly 190,000 rental homes in New Jersey as well as hundreds of suppliers to the multi-family housing industry. The NJAA is dedicated to providing safe, clean and affordable rental housing to more than a million residents throughout the state.
