NORTH BETHESDA, Md. (Aug. 3, 2023)An expansive, multi-million-dollar renovation has launched at The Terraces at Tuckerman Lane in North Bethesda. The ambitious repositioning – which follows a recent rebranding and coincides with the introduction of new leadership – marks a fresh chapter for the assisted living community.

According to the community’s newly appointed senior executive director, Laura Holden, Tuckerman’s modernization will take its amenities and services to a new level – one that reflects the vibrancy of the neighborhood and the evolving demands of discerning seniors.

“North Bethesda is one of Maryland’s most desirable neighborhoods, and our residents appreciate the blend of urban and suburban living with access to dynamic shopping, dining, entertainment and cultural experiences,” said Holden, an experienced senior living leader who most recently served as executive director of The Terraces at Westminster in Westminster, Md., for four years. “Our vision is to offer the best of what is trending in senior living, including upscale residences, resort-style amenities and distinctive lifestyle options.”

A Reimagining for Today and Tomorrow

The Terraces at Tuckerman Lane, which is conveniently located at 5550 Tuckerman Lane, spans approximately 84,000 square feet and includes 101 assisted living apartments on four floors. ML Group spearheaded the design transformation of the building’s physical spaces. “The overall look and feel is very clean and modern, with a sophisticated and stylish mix of finishes, textures and colors,” Holden noted.

Planned improvements include a fully renovated lobby, main dining room, café and bar. Elegantly designed lounges – situated at the center of each residential wing – will feature multiple soft-seating options as well as groupings of activity tables and chairs to accommodate a variety of uses of the space.

Work has begun on the corridors and residences, which will all have upgraded bathrooms, kitchenettes, flooring and lighting. “Tuckerman is also exploring the possibility of adding a dedicated Memory Care neighborhood on the fourth floor, which would offer an innovative solution to residents’ clinical needs,” Holden said.

Holden emphasized the focus on creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also conducive to bringing residents together. “We are continually developing innovative programming that offers residents unique opportunities to learn, stay active and have fun,” she said.Ultimately, we are working to position The Terraces at Tuckerman Lane as a community of choice for discerning seniors.”

Holden noted the recent introduction of Samba Fitness, a branded fitness program, and the Rendever virtual reality platform, which allows residents to travel the world without leaving home. The Terraces at Tuckerman Lane residents also enjoy direct access to the Bethesda Trolley Trail, a popular 4-mile walking and biking path.

The Terraces at Tuckerman Lane offers assisted living and respite care, as well as onsite skilled nursing at Tuckerman Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. The community has a passionate staff of caregivers and health professionals who strive to inspire and guide residents to live life to its fullest potential in an active and welcoming environment.
