Public is Invited to See and Learn about Philadelphia’s First Horseless E-Carriage

Caroline the electric carriage
PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 17, 2023) – Philadelphia’s first electric horseless carriage is making a visit to Fountain View at Logan Square in Center City on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and the public is invited to see, first-hand, the future of tourist transportation. Animal advocacy organization Carriage Horse Freedom will present a free educational demonstration, “Caroline the Electric Carriage: Past Meets Future.”
The event will begin at 2 p.m. in the Fountain View lobby; the senior living community is located at 2 Franklin Town Boulevard.
“Carriage Horse Freedom is a solution-oriented organization that is working to promote responsible tourism,” said Sarah M. Jobes, Fountain View’s director of life enrichment. “We are thrilled to join forces with them to give city residents and members of our community the chance to experience this humane and eco-friendly alternative to horse-drawn carriages.”
Caroline made her official debut in the city’s 2023 Independence Day Parade and is the first tourist transportation of its kind to be introduced in any major city in the U.S. The e-carriage offers a unique and animal-friendly transportation experience, which combines the nostalgic appearance of a traditional horse-drawn carriage with the technology of a modern e-vehicle.
