OAKLAND, N.J., March 18, 2021 – The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) has designated March 14-20 as Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week, recognizing rehabilitation’s key role in enhancing quality of life for individuals with lung disease. At Oakland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Oakland, residents and care team members joined in this year’s “Breathe Easy” themed event. Respiratory therapist Parul Desai (pictured), who possesses more than 34 years of experience, is a dedicated member of Oakland’s multidisciplinary clinical care team.

Located at 20 Break Neck Road, Oakland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care. The facility maintains a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Under the direction of pulmonologists Dr. Rakesh Sharma and Dr. Malwinder Singh, Oakland’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program focuses on promoting independence and quality of life through reducing pulmonary symptoms and decreasing disability in acute and chronic lung patients. The facility features numerous modalities along the care continuum service line, including continued tracheostomy weaning, and offers a range of therapies including Trilogy, Airvo, BIPAP and high-flow oxygen capabilities.

Founded in 1985, the AACVPR is a multidisciplinary professional association for those in the pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation field. Its mission is to reduce morbidity, mortality and disability through education, prevention, rehabilitation, research and disease management.

Oakland offers a resource library of physician-curated content, addressing many topics of interest for families of patients and the larger community. The library and more information on the skilled nursing facility can be found at https://oaklandrehabhc.com.
