‘Pet Expo’ Coming to Livingston on November 1

LIVINGSTON, N.J., Oct. 20, 2015–Considering the addition of a new four-legged family member? Want to support local shelters and rescue groups, enjoy food from local restaurants and get a sneak peek at Santa’s workshop? Then be sure to attend the Livingston Pet Expo on Sunday, Nov. 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle, located at 277 Eisenhower Parkway in Livingston.

Hosted by the Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter, the theme for the afternoon is “ADOPT – EDUCATE – RESCUE.”  Supporting this event are Eastman Companies, the shopping center’s manager and developer; Healthy Community Healthy Youth Initiative of Livingston (HCHY), the parent organization of Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter; and Camuso Decorations.

The Livingston Pet Expo will offer something for pets and people alike. Attendees can visit the Pet Photo Booth, where for a $5 donation they can have their pet’s photo taken and entered into the “Cutest Pet” contest on The Shoppes at the Livingston Circle’s Facebook page. The winner will receive a $100 shopping spree at Choice Pet Supply. Food items from The Olive Garden and Ike’s Bagel Café also will be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting the Livingston Animal Shelter.

Several animal shelters and rescue groups are expected to participate, including Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter, The Seeing Eye Puppy Club of Essex County, Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary, Eleventh Hour Rescue, Newark Associated Humane Society, Therapy Dogs International, Montclair Township Animal Shelter, The Livingston Animal Hospital and Greyhound Friends of NJ, among many others.

Local community groups will also be on hand to provide education and raise awareness, and attendees are invited to bring food donations for Stuff the Bus Livingston C.H.O.W. (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse). In addition, there will be a sneak peek at the Camuso elves, who will be hard at work inside Santa’s workshop. The Camuso family holiday decorations, erected for years at the Camuso home, were donated to the Livingston community. Since the annual display was taken down last winter, a committee including local residents, Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Business Improvement District has been raising funds, cleaning and restoring the figures, and expanding the display.

The Friends of the Livingston Animal Shelter is a committee formed by local residents working together to help improve the conditions of the Livingston Animal Shelter. For more information about the Livingston Pet Expo call 973-885-9796 or e-mail
