Robyn Smith, Vice President of Operations, JDA Group

Role Includes Supporting Expansion of Commercial and Residential Portfolio for Hoboken-Based Real Estate Development Firm  

HOBOKEN, N.J., February 8, 2022JDA Group LLC (JDA) has promoted Robyn Smith to Vice President of Operations, the Hoboken-based development firm announced. The move supports the company’s strategic plan to expand its portfolio of commercial and residential properties through both acquisition and development.   

Smith previously served as Property Manager of the privately held commercial and residential developer and owner. JDA boasts a development and management track record of successful, ground-up multifamily and commercial adaptive reuse projects across Northern New Jersey, as well as more than 100 tenant fit-outs. 

JDA CEO Gregory Dell’Aquila said, “As we continue to grow, Robyn’s 20-plus years of real estate development and property management expertise has seen her excel at all aspects of leasing, tenant relations and accounting. Having her oversee our business operations and implementing best practices and standards will provide a solid foundation for our growth trajectory, and allow Robyn to bring the value of a personal touch to our strategic and operational vision.” 

Role Supports Portfolio Expansion 
In her new role, Smith will oversee JDA’s operations, including the property management company, corporate development, investment-related accounting, and human resources. She will work in tandem with JDA Vice President Timothy Connell, who facilitates all aspects of JDA’s development, portfolio management, and investment initiatives with an eye towards expansion.

Since joining JDA in 2018, Smith has managed the firm’s properties in Hoboken: Mission 50, an 80,000 square-foot office building and coworking community located at 50 Harrison Street; and The Lexington, a 50-unit luxury residential building. As the point of contact for tenants and the liaison to ownership, she has handled everything from leasing and billing to maintenance and curb appeal. 

Smith began her career in property management with Ironstate Development Company, where she spent 11 years managing lease-ups for prominent residential properties in Hoboken and Jersey City. She honed her accounting skills while serving as Assistant Controller with Plaza Enterprises JC LLC, and was the Property Manager for City Homes and Gardens prior to joining JDA. 

She was a member of the Executive Committee of the Institute of Real Estate Management and holds an IREM Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation. Earlier in her career, Smith was named the Most Supportive On-Site Staff Member of the Year by the New Jersey Apartment Association. 

JDA Group Continues Growth Phase 
Smith’s promotion comes at a time of significant activity for JDA, which recently received approval for The Boundary, a 500,000-square-foot vertical mixed-use community on the border of Hoboken and Jersey City. The project will include commercial and medical office space, retail, multifamily units, a parking garage, an elevated park, and more. 

JDA’s strategic plan includes expanding its portfolio with income-producing assets – especially those that carry future development opportunity – in the greater New York/New Jersey region. It recently acquired 106 North Main Street in Lacey Township, N.J. The two-acre site is fully leased to TD Bank, which maintains a 6,000-square-foot retail bank facility on the site with four drive-through lanes.  

Earlier in 2021, the company established a foothold in the Bergen County retail real estate market by acquiring an 1,800-square-foot asset that is occupied by a Starbucks Coffee and Bank of America ATM kiosk in Fort Lee, N.J. JDA is targeting specific assets that will take the firm to a higher level, and is currently in contract with several other NNN assets.
