CLIFTON PARK, N.Y., April 14, 2014 – While most business owners understand the importance of succession planning, very few have developed a solid strategy for transition that ensures they will achieve their personal and financial goals. Al Traverso, CPA, manager in the Manufacturing & Distribution Group at SaxBST, will lead a discussion and also be part of an industry-expert panel to address relevant succession planning issues on Wednesday, April 16 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Clifton Park, N.Y.

The program, entitled “Succession Planning and Exit Strategies,” is being presented at the Eastern New York Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals 2014 Professional’s Day and begins with registration at 9 a.m. The program has been approved for seven continuing education credits, and includes lunch and networking opportunities.

There are many factors for business owners to consider when planning an exit strategy, including timing; tax efficiency; family transfer vs. employee buyout vs. outright sale; identifying a successor; and how to structure and fund a buyout. Traverso will focus on these topics in a presentation entitled, “What is Your Exit Strategy?” Co-panelists will explore topics such as the basics of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), estate and business planning, and the role of insurance in succession planning.

Cost to attend is $20 for members and $45 for non-members. To register, visit http://www.eventbrite.com/e/2014-professionals-day-tickets-10677561875?aff=mcivte. For more information, contact Melissa Shriver, chapter executive at (518) 488-4844 or via e-mail at ENYChapterExec@nycap.rr.com.
