“BBQ & Mixology” Kick Off Event Offers Members New Ways to Rekindle Friendships and Engagement with Synagogue Community
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J., June 12, 2014 – Recognizing the changing needs of its members, Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel (TSTI) has created (Re)Connections, a group for members who are current or soon-to-be empty nesters. To launch the new group, the Reform synagogue held an informal “BBQ and Mixology Night” at the home of members Elissa and Hal Mandel of South Orange. Participants mingled and enjoyed a casual barbeque dinner as professional bartenders and staff from McLoone’s in West Orange demonstrated how to mix new summer cocktails.
Lori Feigenbaum, co-president of the (Re)Connection committee, said, “Many members lose touch when their children age out of TSTI’s education and youth programs. This group offers them the chance to rekindle old friendships and develop new ones as they discover common bonds and new ways to connect with their synagogue community.” The committee plans to host several social events throughout the year.
Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel is a vibrant Reform congregation located at 432 Scotland Road in South Orange, N.J., that offers Jewish preschool, Religious school, teen programs, lifelong learning for adults, and a full complement of religious services and cultural programs each month.
