Smiles Abound Following Afternoon of Pampering, Beauty and Friendship
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (Dec. 12, 2022) — Relaxation was the order of the day at Riverton Enhanced Senior Living’s Day at the Spa. Cindy Housel, life enrichment director, planned the event because “everybody needs a spa day now and then!”
The afternoon of pampering included facials, hand massages, manicures and hair styling, along with an introduction to mindful meditation. Chrissie Watters, a resident who loves taking part in all the fun activities at Riverton (especially afternoon Bingo and Friday Happy Hour), couldn’t wait for the spa services, which were provided by Housel, her daughter LeAnne, and Riverton team member KJ Frantz.
Watters enjoyed a facial and had her hair styled. “I love that the spa came to me,” she said. “It felt so good to be pampered. I love knowing that the staff here is always thinking about us and taking care of us. It’s such a good feeling.”
While all the residents were invited to take part, it turned out to be a girls’ day—20 women spent the afternoon chatting and laughing. Vera Rabe, another resident, was quick to say, “The men missed out! They were a total no-show but we had a lot of fun!”
Julia Eltringham loves the opportunity to be with friends at events like spa day. She recalled the experience with a huge smile, showing off her freshly polished manicure. “I had a facial, and boy did that feel good!” she said. “They also massaged my hands. I felt so comfortable and relaxed. It was a wonderful afternoon.”
Housel agreed Riverton’s Day at the Spa was a rousing success and said she plans on offering it again soon. “We all have exhausting days, and we forget to take time to relax,” Housel said. “A Day at the Spa was our way of giving the gift of relaxation to our residents.”
