Students Completed YEA! Program Sponsored by Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce
POTTSVILLE, PA., May 6, 2015 – Thirteen “students-turned-entrepreneurs” officially launched their new businesses during a recent trade show event at Fairlane Village Mall. The young business owners are graduates of The Young Entrepreneurs Academy, also known as YEA!, a 30-week afterschool program sponsored by the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce. Pictured is entrepreneur James Swartz showing his product “Wax on the Way” to (from left) Karen Kenderdine of First National Trust Co.; Kim Noel of WMGH-FM; and Wayne Pace of W. Pace LLP (dba McDonald’s Restaurants Pottsville & Schuylkill Haven.)
Throughout the year-long YEA! program, students generated business ideas, conducted market research, wrote business plans, pitched to a panel of investors, and launched their very own companies. Founded in 2004 at the University of Rochester, the Young Entrepreneurs Academy serves thousands of students across America. The Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce-sponsored YEA! program began in Fall 2014 and was open to middle and high school students ages 13 to 18.
