Notable Achievements also Include Chamber’s Large Business of the Year Award

The Woodbine Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center team

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Jan. 16, 2024) — For Woodbine Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, the past few months have been marked with notable achievements. On the heels of earning a Five-Star Overall rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Alexandria skilled nursing facility was selected as Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Best in Business – Large Business of the Year.

Located at 2729 King St., Woodbine provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care. “Both recognitions are a testament to the dedication of Woodbine’s entire team to provide the highest quality of service, day in and day out, to all those in their care at the center,” said Megan Shilling, regional director of market development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility.

As part of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, CMS is responsible for quality standards in long-term care facilities through its survey and certification process; it gives each nursing home a rating of between one and five stars. Facilities with five stars are considered to have above average quality. In addition to its Five-Star Overall rating, Woodbine maintains a Five-Star Quality Measures rating. “CMS’s Rating System is heavily relied upon by consumers, families and caregivers, as well as business partners,” added Shilling.

The Alexandria Chamber’s annual Best in Business Awards is a signature program for the local non-profit organization. Woodbine Administrator Donna Shaw, RN, LNHA, accepted the skilled nursing facility’s 2023 honor during the recent award ceremony and celebration.

“This award belongs to everyone on our incredible staff at Woodbine,” said Shaw. “It’s been said that it takes a village; here in Alexandria, we like to say it takes a city and what a special one this is. Our sincere thanks to the Chamber for this recognition and to our near-to-our-hearts supporters, Lucelle O’Flaherty, Lynnwood Campbell and Mary Lee Anderson.”

Woodbine has Virginia’s largest licensed skilled nursing capacity. More information on the center and its programming can be found at
