HACKENSACK, N.J., Nov. 9, 2012 – The YWCA Bergen County‘s annual fall benefit, “The Power of Us: a celebration of extraordinary women,” has been postponed to Tuesday, December 11 due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy. Previously scheduled for November 16, the benefit honors those who personify the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. The event will be held at the Stony Hill Inn, 231 Polifly Road in Hackensack, N.J. Proceeds will help to advance the YWCA Bergen County’s empowerment programs and services for women, girls and families.

This year’s distinguished honorees include United Water, Yvonne Witter of Teaneck High School, and Women United in Philanthropy.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and will lend invaluable support to the YWCA’s many programs and services. They include its 24-hour hotline to assist victims of sexual violence; workshops to develop strong, self-confident girls; workforce readiness seminars; and assistance with job search strategies. The YWCA also is seeking donations of items/experiences to be auctioned off the night of the event. All donations will be acknowledged in the event program.

The “Power of Us” begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction, followed at 7 p.m. by dinner, program and a live auction. Tickets are $100 per person ($46 of which is tax deductible).

For more information on purchasing tickets, sponsorship opportunities or making auction donations, contact Jill Donitz at (201) 881-1721 or via e-mail at jdonitz@ywcabergencounty.org.
