Speakers and Workshops will Help Girls Connect, Learn and Own their Own Power

PARAMUS, N.J., Feb. 27, 2013 – On Saturday, March 23, 2013, the YWCA Bergen County will be hosting “The Power of YOU” – a day for girls ages 11 to 18 to connect, learn and own their own power – at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road in Paramus, N.J. As part of this community event, workshops, speakers and panel discussions will be aimed at helping young girls take charge of their health, money and well-being. Topics include empowerment/self-esteem, healthy body image, social action and preparing for the future. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with mentors, presenters and their peers.

The day’s events run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Confirmed keynote speakers include TV personality, dance visionary and entrepreneur Kesha Nichols; and Candace Carrizales, the 16-year-old host of the “Live a Little!” Web series on the YouTube Channel’s SoulPancake.

Cost for the conference is $10 per girl or $25 for one girl plus one adult. Admission fee includes breakfast, lunch and access to all workshops and presentations.
