SOUTH ORANGE, N.J., April 1, 2016 – Rabbi Alexandra Klein of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel (TSTI) in South Orange will lead an adult education session on how to provide comfort to others who are going through difficult times or crisis. Titled “Sadness isn’t Contagious: Being a Friend to a Friend in Need,” the class will include a look at Jewish texts that offer historical perspectives from ancient Jewish tradition that can be applied to the commandments of “nichum aveilim,” comforting the bereaved and “bikur cholim,” visiting the sick. A bagel lunch will be served at 12:00 p.m. and the discussion will start promptly at 12:45. There is no fee to attend but advance reservations are required. Please call (973) 763-4116 or register online at bit.ly/1XZYw4Q by April 10.

The class is part of the Reform synagogue’s monthly Renaissance Group Lunch & Learn program for mature adults, which offers lectures, social gatherings, cultural programs, trips, and entertainment. It is co-sponsored by TSTI’s adult education committee.
