Tone of Optimism Strikes Through Revitalized Event

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Sept. 29, 2026) – CREDA New Jersey’s latest program, “CRE Advocacy & Policy Pipeline,” gave commercial real estate professionals the opportunity to connect directly with state agency leaders in a new interactive, open house format. Representatives from Governor Sherrill’s administration also spoke directly to attendees on the most important issues facing the state’s CRE industry.

The program began with a panel of speakers from different state departments sharing key updates on progress, highlighted by reduced backlogs, permitting efficiency and regulatory simplification. Speakers included Chris Taylor, deputy policy director, State of New Jersey Office of the Governor; Joseph Seebode, deputy commissioner, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection; Emma Rebhorn, commissioner, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities; Kevin Luckie, deputy director, Division of Codes and Standards (New Jersey Department of Community Affairs); and Laine Rankin, assistant commissioner, Local Resources and Community Development (New Jersey Department of Transportation).

The second half of the event was an open house format as representatives from numerous state agencies held informal sessions to talk about programs and focuses pertaining to the commercial real estate industry. Government leaders listened and had real discussions with New Jersey CRE professionals, emphasizing the importance of collaborative problem-solving. State agencies represented included OPA/DOS, NJEDA, NJDEP, NJT, NJDCA, NJHMFA, NJBPU, PANYNJ and NJDOT.

“We feel a sense of optimism with how Governor Sherrill and her administration have been approaching their responsibilities,” said Dan Kennedy, CREDA NJ CEO. “A fresh format for this event felt necessary to us as we look to establish a true connection that the development world should have with our partners in the state government. Everyone who attended was able to see for themselves the power of communication and collaboration, and we were encouraged by the amount of meaningful conversation that took place.”
