Norristown, Pa., Skilled Nursing Facility Expanding Services to Meet Area Needs
NORRISTOWN, Pa., Sept. 8, 2021 — Expanding its services to meet area healthcare needs, Markley Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Norristown has introduced short-term care specialties, including subacute rehab and a post-surgical Orthopedic Transitions Program. The enhancements are part of a $3.5 million repositioning and rebranding at the 121-bed skilled nursing facility, formerly Regina Community Nursing Center.
Located at 550 E. Fornance St., Markley maintains a four-star rating for quality measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The upgrade in progress is touching every part of the three-story building, creating a modern, home-like environment for residents and further enhancing the facility’s capabilities to provide top-level therapy and programming options.
“Markley is pleased to start welcoming short-term rehab patients, a shift that is in direct response to area demand,” said Danielle Koons, regional director of market development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “Markley’s talented clinical team is developing individualized programs to help short-term rehab patients maximize function as they work to regain their independence and transition home.”
Subacute represents a comprehensive, high level of care for patients with active illnesses, injuries or complex medical conditions following – or as an alternative to – a hospital stay. Some of the most common conditions treated include joint fractures or replacements, heart issues and diabetes. Subacute patients typically undergo rehab therapy sessions for one or two hours per day, as prescribed.
Markley’s Orthopedic Transitions program combines high-quality orthopedic care and a rehab experience featuring privacy and comfort to safely and efficiently prepare post-surgical patients for their return home. The facility’s expansive rehab gym features the latest in technology.
Committed to serving as a healthcare resource for area residents, Markley, together with Marquis, has established a resource library of physician-curated content, addressing many topics of interest for families of patients and the larger community. The library and more information on the skilled nursing facility can be found at markleyrehab.com.
Based in Brick, N.J., Marquis Health Consulting Services is a highly skilled and vision-driven nursing home consulting company currently supporting Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities totaling nearly 6,000 skilled nursing and assisted living beds.
