Business Leaders to Address Needs of a Changing Workforce, Impact on CRE

ISELIN, N.J. (Sept. 5, 2023) — The evolution of office space to meet the changing needs of today’s workforce remains top-of-mind for business leaders and commercial real estate owners/operators alike. NAIOP New Jersey’s annual CEO Perspective dinner program on Thursday, Sept. 21, will further this important conversation during a special discussion, “Dinosaurs to Diamonds/Evolving Workspaces for a Changing Workforce.”

“There is a concerted effort underway to reestablish value for physical office spaces. This requires a collaborative approach – involving local government leaders, corporate and real estate stakeholders – in order to move forward given that everyone acknowledges the office space market has changed,” noted Dan Kennedy, NAIOP NJ CEO. “Attracting and retaining tenants will require updating workplaces in concert with increasing the vibrancy of communities. Outdated zoning codes and other standards create real challenges but working together we can implement powerful solutions and avoid the fate of high vacancy rates – which is bad for everyone.”

Kimberly Bombery Smith, vice president of Workplace Strategy for JLL, will lead a conversation on the future of office buildings, and address critical questions on this pressing topic. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Shane Connell, executive vice president, Connell Company
  • Dan Spero, senior managing director, JLL
  • Sheena C. Collum, Village President/Mayor, Township of South Orange Village
  • Doug Adams, senior vice president, Streetworks Development

The CEO Perspective event will take place at the Delta Hotel Woodbridge, 515 US Highway 1 South in Iselin. New Jersey licensed real estate brokers, attorneys, architects, and planners may receive one continuing education credit for attending the program.
