Reform Synagogue in South Orange Offers Creative Student-Centered Curriculum for Kindergarten through 7th Grade, Hebrew High and Confirmation Class; Instruction will be Virtual this Fall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J., August 26, 2020 – The Linda and Rudy Slucker Religious School at Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel (TSTI) in South Orange is accepting registrations for the 2020-2021 school year. The school offers a comprehensive Reform Jewish education for grades K-12, with innovative programs to meet the needs of its diverse student body and their different learning styles. Classes will start on September 14th and, following a successful transition to online learning this spring, will continue this fall with virtual classrooms and programs.

“Our students completed the last school year from their homes, taking full advantage of our programming in every grade, as our creative staff designed new ways to deliver an enriching experience remotely,” said Religious School Director Mindy Schreff. “Our teachers have been learning all summer and we are looking forward to welcoming returning and new students to our virtual classrooms in September.”

The school’s vibrant curriculum blends informational learning with interactive activities and discussions designed to connect students to all aspects of Reform Judaism through a variety of portals; learning modules have included artist-in-residence programs, music, art and multimedia projects, and various informal education opportunities. Instruction is balanced between learning Hebrew and studying various aspects of Jewish history, culture, and values. Post b’nei mitzvah instruction is available in confirmation classes and Hebrew High for students in grades 8 through 12.

TSTI’s educators can personally tailor the educational experience for students, with customized Hebrew instruction and bar/bat mitzvah preparation to meet the needs of all learners. Both the religious school and preschool have been recognized for their fresh approach to child-centered learning and commitment to inclusion in the classroom.

Curriculum details are available online at Families who are not members of TSTI and wish to register their children for fall 2020 are asked to contact Mindy Schreff at
