Miami Skilled Nursing Facility Receives Double Accreditation from The Joint Commission and AHCA’s Bronze Quality of Care Award

MIAMI, Fla., July 27, 2021 — West Gables Health Care Center this spring has earned prestigious national recognitions for quality patient care and services. On the heels of receiving double accreditation from The Joint Commission, the Miami skilled nursing facility received a 2021 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

Located at 2525 SW 75th Avenue, West Gables provides short-term, subacute rehabilitative care. Conveniently perched atop West Gables Rehab Hospital, the center offers ease of transfer and a full spectrum of post-acute programming in collaboration with the hospital’s experienced physicians. West Gables is supported by Marquis Health Consulting Services.

“West Gables’ true dedication to quality patient care and services is both methodical and intentional,” said Marquis’ Jennifer Hertzog, vice president of marketing and business development. “On a daily basis, the team there is focused on checking procedures and evaluating outcomes; if needed, they immediately develop action plans for improvement. The Joint Commission’s double accreditation and AHCA’s award are a testament to the entire team’s commitment to quality.”

The Joint Commission, an independent, nonprofit organization, is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. West Gables received its Gold Seal of Approval® for Comprehensive Manual and Post-Acute Care Accreditations after a rigorous, unannounced onsite review. During the visit, The Joint Commission evaluated compliance with performance standards across a range of areas, including post-acute care, emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, and medication management, as well as rights and responsibilities of the individual and leadership.

West Gables’ Bronze Award from AHCA/NCAL honors its commitment to improving quality of care for seniors and people with disabilities. AHCA/NCAL is the nation’s largest association of long term and post-acute care providers. Its National Quality Award Program is a rigorous three-level process that is reviewed and judged by trained experts against a set of nationally recognized standards for organizational excellence.

Subacute represents a comprehensive, high level of care for patients with active illnesses, injuries or complex medical conditions following – or as an alternative to – a hospital stay. Some of the most common conditions of those in subacute rehab include joint fractures or replacements, heart issues, and diabetes.

West Gables is committed to serving as a healthcare resource for the community. The facility offers a resource library  of physician-curated content, addressing many topics of interest, including subacute rehab and orthopedic rehab, for families of patients and the larger community.
