SOUTH ORANGE, N.J., Dec. 31, 2013 – The Women’s Connection of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel (TSTI) invites women from the Essex County area to a free lecture titled “Food and Mood: Healthy Eating for a Long and Happy Life,” by nutritionist Dr. Shelley Weinstock, CNS, FACN. The program, which is open to the public, will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Healthy snacks will be served.

Weinstock, a Certified Nutrition Specialist and Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (www.weinstocknutrition.com), will lead attendees through a Q&A format during which they will discover:

  • How certain foods and vitamins affect mood and overall health.
  • How improving one’s eating habits and lifestyle choices helps prevent chronic disease.
  • Which foods help manage the effects of hormonal shifts in the body.
  • Myths about common foods we eat.

Throughout the year, the Women’s Connection provides opportunities for its members and guests to connect with women from South Orange and surrounding towns in a casual, intimate atmosphere at the Reform synagogue. It hosts social, educational, cultural and intellectual activities within a Jewish context for women of all generations.
