July: ShopRite of West Nyack to Host a Full Calendar of Health and Wellness Events
Summer Happenings Include Culinary Workshops, Protein-Packed Product Samplings and More
WEST NYACK, N.Y., June 28, 2017 – ShopRite of West Nyack, an Inserra Supermarkets store, is hosting a full calendar of nutrition and wellness events throughout the month of July. The store’s registered dietitian, Jaclyn Padovano, R.D., C.D.N. will lead the summer activities with easy-to-implement advice and instruction. All events are free, open to the public, held at ShopRite of West Nyack and do not require advance registration unless otherwise noted:
Sat., July 1 – Friendly Vendor Demo Day, 12 – 2 p.m. Stop by ShopRite of West Nyack to meet with friendly vendors offering some of Jackie’s favorite, better-for-you products throughout the store.
Mon., July 3 – Meal of the Week Demo, 4 – 6 p.m. In-store dietitian Jackie will be sampling this week’s Meal of the Week recipe while supplies last. The Meal of the Week Cart, located in the meat department, features a dietitian’s recipe with all necessary ingredients.
Wed., July 5 – Hidden Sources of Protein, 2 – 3 p.m. Stop by the Dietitian’s Office to check out some products that you may have never known are great sources of protein. Samples and information will be provided.
Fri., July 7 – High Protein, High Fiber Friday, 2 – 4 p.m. High fiber foods combined with lean protein sources can help keep you satiated and energized throughout the day. Stop by the Dietitian’s Office and learn new ways to incorporate high protein and high fiber combinations into your daily routine.
Tues., July 11 – Kids’ Culinary Workshop, 5 – 7 p.m. Please note space is limited and advanced registration at customer service is required. Bring in mini-chefs for a hands-on cooking class centered on the theme “Easy Cheesy.” Menu features homemade cheese, stuffed peppers, and strawberries with cannoli filling. Cost is $20 per child with an adult and $10 for each additional child.
Thurs., July 13 – Adult Culinary Workshop, 6 – 8 p.m. Please note space is limited and advanced registration at customer service is required. Join us in creating a healthy and delicious meal centered on the theme “Summer Gatherings.” Menu will include shawarma chicken, a grilled salad, and mango-cardamom sorbet. Cost is $20 per person.
Mon., July 17 – Protein-Themed Store Tour, 6 – 7 p.m. Join in-store dietitian Jackie on a tour through the aisles to learn more about nutrition label reading and better-for-you products at ShopRite of West Nyack. The focus will be on protein needs, picking lean proteins and surprisingly high protein-containing foods.
Wed., July 19 – Protein Snack Ideas, 3 – 5 p.m. Bored of your snacking routine? Not sure what to grab on the go? In-store dietitian Jackie will be providing information on snacks that provide a full serving of protein.
Thurs., July 20 – Free Kids’ Class, 5 – 6 p.m. Please note space is limited and pre-registration with in-store dietitian Jackie is required. ShopRite of West Nyack is offering a free, award-winning class sponsored by ShopRite and RWJBarnabas Health. Open to youngsters ages 7-10, this interactive class will teach children about the different food groups and empower them to make better food choices.
Saturday, July 29 – Go H2O!, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Do you know how much water you need to drink every day? Visit in-store dietitian Jackie and learn tips on how to stay adequately hydrated this summer.
